Who We Are?

Al is an outdoor professional based in the South East. He has been training others for 18 years in navigation and hill walking and experienced in running dozens of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions for young people. The passion has also taken him on expedition to the likes of Borneo, Mongolia, Ghana, Ecuador, the Far East and to the summit of Kilimanjaro.

In September 2019, he took his professional qualifications to the next level and qualified as a Mountain Leader on the stunning Isle of Rùm of the Inner Hebrides. The highest peak on Rùm, Askival (812m) now symbolises his professional career through Askival Outdoors.

Al is also a volunteer for a local Search & Rescue team and a Trustee of the Young Explorers’ Trust. He aspires to help people discover the environment around them through new eyes and introduce them to new skills and experiences.
